Mobile System Planning

Mobile Imaging: Mobile Pad Location & Planning

There are two important things that need to be considered when planning for a mobile system: Is there a large enough pad and is this an accessible area for the mobile? In this blog, we will dive into how to ensure a smooth process to get you up and running.

Dimensions of Pad

Dimensions of a mobile system vary by mobile manufacturer as well as the type of system. We always recommended asking your KMG account representative for the specific mobile site planning guide to make sure you have enough space. You will want to make sure you have a pad that is at least 54’ long by 20’ wide. This will ensure there is enough space for the MRI, CT, or PETCT.

Parking Mobile System

When the driver is parking the mobile system, there are a few things you will need to be mindful of as you prepare.

Power Location

The mobile is equipped with a forty-five foot power cable to connect to the RS connect at your facility. As a recommendation, please make sure you have a mapped out a route for your patients and that the cable will be in an area that you will not have to continually step over.

IT Location

At KMG, we recommend at least two RJ45 data connections. This is to allow for the system host computer and facility internal computer to connect internally. You can place the ports right next to the RS connection box.
